Hello

A Note to Seekers:

If you are looking for a mentor, take your time. Choose someone you feel you can build a real connection with. It helps to have something in common or something meaningful to you, because that gives you a place to begin. From there, the relationship can grow.

Do not approach mentorship as a checklist. This is not about completing tasks or passing requirements. It is about communication, honesty, and growth. You should be willing to engage, to be seen, and to put in the effort. Sometimes that will mean being challenged, and sometimes that means hearing things you may not immediately like, but that is part of moving forward.

If I am going to work with someone, it needs to be a personal relationship. I need to know who you are. I prefer communication where I can see you and hear you. Text is fine, but it is not enough on its own.

Your path will be your own. I am not here to make you into me. I am here to walk alongside you and help you move forward with integrity.

Mentorship Availability:

At this time, I am open to being paired with a couple of apprentices, with the understanding that I prefer to work in a more personal and engaged way. If that resonates with you, then we can begin with a conversation and see if it is a good fit.

Jedi Path

I would label myself as Jedi-inspired. That is how I see myself. I’m a bit older than some, I’m 54 as I say this, and my journey really began when I was a child. The Jedi and Star Wars stories have stayed with me throughout my life and continue to inspire me even now.

What first sparked your interest in the Jedi path?
In 1978, at the beginning of the year, I went to see Star Wars with my father. I was astounded, completely taken aback. From that moment on, throughout my childhood, it was Star Wars everything. Even though I no longer collect anything from it now, the stories of the Jedi have always stayed with me and continued to inspire me.

Philosophy & Journey

How did you come to the Jedi path, and when did it become more than an interest?

I first engaged with the Jedi community about 25 years ago during the forum era, when my wife was pregnant with my son. I was looking for something at the time, something that I could use to emphasize certain teachings to my son, and that’s how I found the community. I was part of early groups like the Blue Group, and later engaged with programs like the Praxium as well. Over time, I stepped away and came back, but it continued to stay with me. More recently, I came into IJF through the Seeker Program, and then moved into apprenticeship. That’s when it became something more active again in my life.

How do you personally define the Force?

For me, the Force is connection. It is connection in all its forms. I don’t view it as something mystical or supernatural. It is simply connection to other people, connection to the world, connection to everything around me. It is about interdependence.

What has been the most meaningful or challenging lesson the Force has taught you?

Acceptance of self. When I accept myself for who I am, including the parts of me that aren’t so good, when I really see them and witness them, then I can begin to have greater compassion for others.

What continues to motivate you to walk this path?

I’m still inspired. The stories of the Jedi still touch me. Even now, I’ve come back to reading Star Wars fiction again, and those stories continue to move me and keep me engaged with the path.

Mentorship & Leadership

What responsibility do you believe comes with holding the title of Knight?

Knight is service. When you are a Knight, you are serving. The question becomes, what are you serving and which communities are you serving? For me, there are many, my family, my local neighborhood, my work, my country, the wider world, and also the online community. As a Knight, I see myself as being in service to all of them.

What does being a mentor mean to you personally?

As a person, I try to walk with integrity. I want my thoughts, my actions, everything about me to be as aligned as possible. If I had the honor of being a mentor, that is what I would want to inspire in someone else. Their path will be different from mine, completely different, but whatever their path is, I would want them to walk it with integrity.

How would you describe your mentoring style?

I need a personal relationship with someone. I don’t like ticking boxes. I don’t like saying, “you’ve done this, you pass,” without actually knowing the person. I want to know who they are. I prefer communication through video and audio, not just text. I want to see them, hear them, understand them. That’s how I can meet them where they are.

What kind of mentee do you feel naturally compatible with?

Someone I can build a real, personal relationship with. Someone open to communicating beyond just text, through voice and presence. It has to be a genuine connection, not just a checklist.

What area do you specialize in as a Jedi and mentor?

It isn’t lightsabers. I do own one and have practiced a little, but that’s not my focus. My focus is movement and stillness. I am a martial arts practitioner and coach, so physical movement, especially martial arts, is very important to my path. Alongside that, meditation, both seated and standing, is equally important.

Is there a mentor or a few people in the Jedi Community that helped you grow as a Jedi?

My first mentor was Christian Jin, and I’m still in contact with her. Beyond that, there have been many people along the way. People like Sophia, Antwoine, and you, Karina. There are many people who have inspired me and supported me throughout my journey.

Character & Growth

What do you believe are some of your core personality traits?

I’m a teacher, both professionally and in martial arts, and that requires patience. I would say I’m relatively patient. I also try to accept people for where they are and meet them at that point.

What strengths help you serve your community well?

Patience helps me serve my community. Accepting people where they are helps me serve my community. I would also say I’m positive. I like to smile, I like to laugh, and I try to bring that into what I do.

What does integrity mean to you in daily life?

Integrity means that my thoughts, my actions, and who I am are aligned. I try to make everything as one as much as I can, so that there is consistency between what I think, what I say, and what I do.

What do people often misunderstand about you?

Sometimes people misunderstand my roughness. Because of my background in martial arts, my language can be a bit rough, and I can be direct with people. But I’m not a bully. I meet people where they are, and I try to push them forward if that’s what they want. I want to help them move on and grow, but sometimes that can be misunderstood.

Life Beyond the Temple

What brings you joy outside of Jedi practice?

Martial arts brings me joy, both practicing and coaching. Teaching in general is a big part of my life. I also enjoy reading, especially science fiction, and exploring philosophy like Buddhism.

Favorite Movie/Show:

Science fiction as a genre, and a show that really stood out to me was The Expanse.

Favorite Singer/Band:

I don’t focus on specific artists. I listen to music mostly when I’m training. I listen to Japanese trap, and music that mixes kung fu film elements with traditional sounds and strong beats.

Heroes and Inspirations:

In the real world, I look up to members of my local Slovenian community, especially older individuals I teach weekly. Many of them lived through difficult times, including resistance during fascism, and I have the privilege of hearing their stories. In fiction, it changes depending on what I’m reading, but I connect strongly with Mace Windu, and of course Luke Skywalker has been there since childhood.

What do you do outside of IJF?

I am a school teacher, and I am also a martial arts coach. I also teach elderly members of my local community.

How does your life outside the Order influence your Jedi path?

Teaching, both in school and martial arts, reinforces patience, connection, and meeting people where they are. My involvement in community and my interest in philosophy, especially Buddhism, also shape how I approach the Jedi path.

Community & Vision

How would you describe being part of the IJF community?

I came into IJF through the Seeker Program, and I really appreciated it. It was live, and even if you couldn’t attend live, you could engage through recordings. That made it something different from other programs I’ve experienced. From there, I moved into apprenticeship, which also went well. Overall, it’s been a very positive experience.

How do you personally contribute to the health and culture of this community?

I want to give back what I’ve gained. I’ve received support through the Seeker Program and apprenticeship, and I hope to offer that same support to others.

What does belonging mean to you within IJF?

It means being part of a supportive community. Since joining IJF, I’ve felt supported, and that sense of support is important to me.

Final Reflection

When someone reads your bio, what do you hope they understand about your heart?

I’m full-hearted. If I can be of assistance in any way, I hope I can be.
